About Us

Our mission:
To create a movement in Sioux Falls that will educate and inspire our community to build a greener future in the areas of recycling, water conservation, energy consumption and development.

In 1997, South Dakota was #1 in waste management per person in the nation. But today, Sioux Falls is 30% behind the national average.  Not to mention, our state has increased its energy consumption by over 57 trillion BTUs since 1980.

In South Dakota, being connected to the land is a way of life. So how have we fallen behind environmentally?

South Dakotans never stopped caring about the environment. We just haven’t worked together. Individually, we’re making environmental strides to better our earth. But as one, we can do even more. The Sioux Falls Green Project is creating a movement that will educate and inspire our community to build a greener future in the areas of recycling, water conservation, energy consumption and development.

We aim to connect our city’s green efforts and lift them up so we can all learn, change and grow together. One by one, we can unite so every effort makes an impact.
